Sandy Bay Kayak, Seals and WalkAt the Marahau base, your guide will give you full instructions on safe paddling techniques and settle you into a stable, double kayak. Then explore, have fun! Return to Marahau by 11.45am to join the 12pm Water Taxi to the golden sands of Onetahuti, visiting the fascinating New Zealand Fur Seal colony at Tonga Island on the way. Walk through lush native forest to Bark Bay to rejoing the Water Taxi at 3.40pm to return to Marahau. Trip operates daily 1 December to end of April. Heart of the ParkA scenic water taxi ride into the best sea kayaking territory in the Park. Paddle north from the golden sands of Anchorage, around tidal lagoons and rugged granite headlands to the idyllic lagoon of Bark Bay, fringed by lush native forest. Enjoy a picnic lunch before sailing back into Anchorage on the afternoon sea breeze. A visit to the seal colony on Pinnacle Island is a highlight with the possibility of seeing a blue penguin. From Anchorage, walk to Te Puketea via the Pitt Head loop track. Your guide will have lots of stories to tell about the fascinating natural and cultural history of the Abel Tasman region.
